A bird species in the family Leiothrichidae, endemic to Vietnam. Distribution: Dalat Plateau, Ma - linh (Dalat), National Parks Chu Yang Sin (Dak Lak), Bidoup-Nui Ba (Lam Dong), Kong-Troi and the upper Da-Nhim area (Dak Lak and Lam Dong). Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist montane forests and high-elevation shrubland. It is omnivorous, but more often feeds on insects.

The bird has a black head, silvery-grey throat and cheeks, rusty-red breast and upperparts, neck collar, and upper back. The wings are yellow with black coverts, the tail is brown with yellow edges, and the rest of the body is grey. It is threatened by habitat loss.
