This brightly colored forest pigeon in the family Columbidae lives across the Indian Subcontinent and Southeast Asia, including Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand, Tibet, and Vietnam. Its habitats are subtropical and tropical moist lowland and montane forests.
Greenish yellow with a wedge-shaped tail, it has an orange-rufous crown and, in males, variable maroon on the back and scapulars. Like other green pigeons, it is usually seen in pairs or small flocks but can gather in large numbers at fruiting trees high in the canopy. Conservation status: Least Concern.
