This red crossbill (Loxia curvirostra meridionalis), a subspecies of the red crossbill, is endemic to the mountains of southern Vietnam, particularly the Da Lat Plateau in Lâm Đồng Province, including Bidoup Nui Ba National Park.

These birds are known for their distinctive crossed bills, which they use to extract seeds from pine cones. They forage in flocks, flying from tree to tree. This subspecies is currently listed as Least Concern by the IUCN.
