This is a medium-sized bird in the family Timaliidae, found in Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, India, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand, and Vietnam. It inhabits subtropical and tropical moist lowland and montane forests from foothills to mountains, favoring dense undergrowth, shrubby edges, and grassy areas. This species has a slightly decurved yellow bill and a white breast, and usually forages low in the
undergrowth or on the ground for insects, grubs, and spiders, often joining mixed flocks with other babblers and laughingthrushes. Its repertoire includes whoops, rattles, and hoots, and pairs often duet. Conservation status: Least Concern.
